PHIL AVILLO FOR CONGRESS
Phil Avillo is running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 19th District. He is a Professor of American History at York College, board member and past President of the York Suburban School Board, and a decorated marine.
Phil believes it’s time to provide comprehensive health care for all Americans, as well as adequate staffing ratios at health care facilities. As a lifelong educator, Phil will fight against federal education programs that have our children falling further and further behind in math and science, and will work to restore local control of schooling. He will push to revive successful programs like Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Head Start, which have been allowed to wither, and reverse the increasing rates for college loans, which are an obstacle to higher education. Phil believes we can achieve energy independence by making conservation a national priority through economic incentives to conserve fuel, increasing CAFÉ standards as rapidly as possible, building bio-refineries to convert agricultural and urban waste into renewable energy, and development of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Phil believes that staying the course in Iraq is a recipe for disaster and advocates a phased withdrawal of American troops.
Finally, Phil has the enthusiastic support of grassroots groups across the 19th District. Like all of the campaigns our county groups are supporting, Avillo for Congress wants help on Election Day.
